Alexander Megos is a German sport climber who made history in 2013 as the first person to onsight a 9a (5.14d) route, Estado Critico in Siurana, Spain. He started climbing at age six with his father in the Franconian Jura and went on to train with the Bavarian and German national teams. Megos has since put up some of the hardest sport climbs in the world, including multiple 9b and 9b+ ascents such as Bibliographie, and has competed at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics. He splits his time between his home base in Franconia and crags across Europe.
