Sage Canaday was born in Oregon and attended Newberg High School before running for Cornell University, where at 21 he became the youngest qualifier at the 2008 US Olympic Trials marathon. He graduated from Cornell in 2009 with a degree in design. Since transitioning to mountain-ultra-trail running in 2012, he has become a three-time US National Champion across 12K mountain running, 100K trail running, and trail marathon distances. He won the USATF 100K Trail Championship at Bandera in course record time, plus the Speedgoat 50K, Lake Sonoma 50, Cayuga Trails 50, and the 100K at the Tarawera Ultramarathon. He holds six FKTs, including the Maroon Bells 4 Passes Loop. Canaday is equally known as a content creator: his YouTube channel Vo2maxProductions has over 247,000 subscribers and 49 million views.
