He founded and published Bear Hunting Magazine and directed the Arkansas Black Bear Association for twelve years. A traditional archery enthusiast and mule skinner, Newcomb's work explores the cultural and historical roots of hunting, rural life, and the American outdoors. He joined MeatEater in 2020 and hosts the Clay Newcomb Hunts series.
