Tobin Seagel was born and raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and spent summers exploring retreating glaciers with his geologist parents. He competed in Junior Climbing World Championships and climbed at the 5.14 grade before focusing on backcountry skiing. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Environmental Design. He has skied remote zones from Baffin Island to the Aleutians, St. Elias Range, Alaska Range, La Grave, Chamonix, Norway, and Argentina.
