Timothy Olson was born and raised in Wisconsin, competing in cross-country and track before struggling with addiction and anxiety in early adulthood. He credits overcoming those challenges with shaping his approach to ultrarunning, which integrates meditation, breathwork, and holistic living. Based in Oregon, Olson won the Western States 100 in 2012, demolishing the course record with a time of 14:46:44, over 20 minutes faster than the previous record. He won again in 2013. In 2021, he set the men's supported FKT on the 2,653-mile Pacific Crest Trail in 51 days, 16 hours, and 55 minutes. Olson founded Run Mindful and Adventure Mindful, organizations that host retreats combining trail running, meditation, and community. He has been an Adidas Terrex athlete since 2018, wearing their sustainability-focused Parley line.
