Kit DesLauriers became the first person to ski from the summit of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, completing the project on October 18, 2006, when she skied Mount Everest. She was the first woman and first American to ski from the summit of Everest. She won consecutive World Freeskiing Championship titles in 2004 and 2005. She was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2019 and received the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award. She lives in Teton Village, Wyoming, and is also a stonemason who runs a landscape design company.
