Kilian Jornet Burgada was born in Sabadell, Catalonia, and grew up in a mountain hut at 2,000 meters in the Pyrenees where his father was a hut keeper and mountain guide. He climbed his first 3,000-meter peak at age three. Jornet is a six-time Skyrunner World Series champion in the Sky division, with three Ultra titles. He has won UTMB four times (with course records), Hardrock 100 five times (2014-2017 and 2022 CR), Western States, and the Grand Raid de la Reunion. He holds FKTs on the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, and the 24-hour uphill skiing record at 23,864 meters. In 2017, he summited Everest twice in a single week without supplemental oxygen. He was named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2018. In 2022, he co-founded NNormal, a trail running brand in partnership with Spanish shoe company Camper, focused on sustainability and minimalist design.
