Jimmy Chin co-directed Free Solo (2018), which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary, and Meru (2015), which won the Sundance Audience Award. As a climber, he achieved the first successful American ski descent from the summit of Everest in 2006 with Kit and Rob DesLauriers and completed the first ascent of Meru's Shark Fin in 2011 with Conrad Anker and Renan Ozturk. He is a National Geographic photographer and has been a North Face athlete for over 20 years, also serving as a senior adviser to the brand.
