Camille Herron was born in Norman, Oklahoma, and was born with impaired hearing, later diagnosed with central auditory processing disorder. In 2024, she was officially diagnosed with autism and ADHD. She earned a bachelor's in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Tulsa and a master's from Oregon State University. Herron holds 12 world records in ultramarathon distances and was the first woman to run sub-5:40 for 50 miles, 150+ km for 12 hours, sub-13 hours for 100 miles, 270+ km for 24 hours, 430+ km for 48 hours, and 900+ km for 6 days. In February 2022, she won the Jackpot 100/US 100 Mile Championship outright in 12:41:10. She is a four-time IAU International Ultra Runner of the Year and six-time USATF Ruth Anderson Ultra Runner of the Year. In 2024, she was inducted into the Road Runners Club of America Distance Running Hall of Fame. She was the first athlete to set a world record in carbon-plated shoes (Nike Vaporfly 4%) in 2017.
